This or That Tag

Hello everyone! Today we have another tag post for you. We got a great response on our last tag so we thought we would do another one! Here is the This or That Tag!

Dog or Cat?
Katelyn: If you saw our last tag, you would know that I am on team Dog. I am like the team captain.
Kiara: Dog, hands down.
Netflix or YouTube?
Katelyn: I would say Youtube because I kinda have an addiction to it.
Kiara: Netflix because I like watching movies.
Phone Call or Text?
Katelyn: Text because it's awkward to stop talking in a middle of a phone call to ask your friend what you should say next.
Kiara: Either one really works but I would probably say text.
Toast or Eggs?
Katelyn: I'd probably say toast. With peanut butter. And Strawberry Jam. :))
Kiara: EGGS. I don't really eat that much toast. But bagels...
Cardio or Weights?
Katelyn: Well my biggest exercise is running to the bus so that counts as cardio and weights because my bag weighs a ton.
Kiara: Cardio? I run when I play soccer. And when I want to get somewhere fast...
Facebook or Twitter?
Katelyn: I'd say Twitter. Facebook has kinda been taken over by random videos.
Kiara: Twitter. I don't even have Facebook and Twitter does a wonderful job keeping me up with all the hockey news.
Ice Cream Cone or Snow Cone?
Katelyn: ICE CREAM.
Kiara: Um ice cream OBVIOUSLY. A snow cone is just flavoured water.
Mobile Games or Console Games?
Katelyn: I'm going to say Console games just because of Wii Party and GTA 5...  We just like to drive the cars however in GTA 5. And steal planes...
Kiara: This is a challenging one but I'm going to have to say mobile because of Cut The Rope.
While walking: Music or Podcasts?
Katelyn: I've only ever listened to a podcast once and I was not walking. I don't listen to anything when I walk but if I had to it would be music.
Kiara: Considering I have never listened to a podcast, music!
iOS or Android?
Katelyn: iOS #teamiphone
Kiara: Android #teamandroid
Form or Function?
Katelyn: Form because function reminds me of advanced functions in school and NO WAY
Kiara: I'm so confused
Pop or Indie?
Katelyn: Pop because I don't even know what indie music sounds like
Kiara: Pop because Maroon 5
Cake or Pie?
Katelyn: Cake because cake
Kiara: Does ice cream cake count?
Swimming or Sunbathing?
Katelyn: Swimming because I get bored way too fast lying in one spot
Kiara: Swimming
High-tech or Low-tech?
Katelyn and Kiara: wth is low-tech, we have no comments
Big Party or Small Gathering?
Katelyn: Small gathering because I don't think I would even know enough people to have a big party #foreveralone
Kiara: Small gathering of Katelyn and I #rave
New Clothes or New Phone?
Katelyn: This is a dilemma... I want new clothes but I also need a new phone because my iPhone 4s is dying on me... But new clothes...
Kiara: Clothes I guess because my phone works just fine
Rich Friend or Loyal Friend?
Katelyn: Loyal Friend because Kiara already buys me everything. :)))))
Kiara: Loyal friend.
Football or Basketball?
Katelyn: Football as long as no one tackles me or comes near me
Kiara: Basketball unless the football is actually soccer then soccer
Work Hard or Play Hard?
Katelyn: Work hard because it usually works out better. Trust me I've tried both in school. Playing when you should be studying does not work.
Kiara: Work hard
Nice Car or Nice Home Interior?
Katelyn: Nice Home Interior because I don't like driving anyways.
Kiara: Nice Home Interior because how long are you actually in your car for? You are in your house majority of your day.
Jogging or Hiking?
Katelyn: Hiking because jogging is boring.
Kiara: Jogging because it's faster.
Bath or Shower?
Katelyn: I like the idea of baths and I like them when I have them but realistically, I don't got time for that. So showers.
Kiara: Shower because I absolutely despise baths
Sneakers or Sandals?
Katelyn: Sandals in the summer!
Kiara: *no comment because this is so obvious, sneakers*
Glasses or Contacts?
Katelyn: Neither because I got 20/20, take that
Kiara: I don't need them but if I had to have them, I would choose glasses
Hamburger or Taco?
Katelyn: Tacos because I don't eat red meat
Kiara: This is the hardest question of my life.. *contemplates for eternity*
Couch or Recliner?
Katelyn: Couch because I can spread out more
Kiara: Couch because I take the whole couch for myself :)
Online Shopping or Shopping in a Store?
Katelyn: I like to window shop online but if I'm actually going to buy anything it will be in the store.
Kiara: In a store because I don't have to wait for it and it's easier to get the right size.
Receive: Email or Letter?
Katelyn: Definitely a letter. It is so much more official and special.
Kiara: Letter, I get enough junk emails
Passenger or Driver?
Katelyn: Passenger because I like to look out the window and pretend I'm in a movie
Kiara: Passenger

And those are all the questions! I hope you enjoyed this little tag and learned more about us.
If you are reading this, we tag you!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette ?!?

Okay so Anastasia Beverly Hills has dropped the bomb. The most beautiful bomb in the world... an eyeshadow palette. Usually Anastasia will come out with their limited edition summer eyeshadow palette but I've heard this new palette is here to stay. They announced the palette a couple days ago over instagram and OH MY GOD it is to die for. The colours are just so exquisite and beautiful...

Here are the release pictures of the palette:

First off, the packaging is just lovely. The baby pink and white is just adorable.

Then BAM. The colours are just so pure and powerful. This is definitely a warm toned palette which I am a personal fan of. Honestly, I have never seen a palette with this grouping of colours. It was like I didn't know what I was missing in life. I have found the missing piece of my puzzle: The Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. And for $42 American, I think that this palette amazing for the price. A pretty good price to complete my life I'd say.

So now here comes the real question... When is it coming to Sephora in Canada? It has been placed onto the Anastasia website, however I do not believe it is yet for sale. Anastasia has announced that it should be released sometime in the summer.

But of course nothing ever applies to Canada. I envy you Americans.

Do you plan on purchasing it? Or do you like more cool toned shadows? Type me a little comment and let me know!

Brownie in a Mug Recipe

Hello everyone! Welcome to our first recipe post.
In this post, we will be showing you how to make a brownie in a mug!
There are many benefits to having a brownie in a mug.
First off, this recipe makes a single serving, so the entire brownie is for you and you only. You can eat as much as you want without any guilt!
Secondly, this brownie only takes about 5 minutes to make. That means you can make yourself a warm dessert during tv commercials. What is better than that?
And lastly, this dessert can be easily disguised as a warm beverage. Is it nine in the morning and you are craving a brownie? Do you think that other people will judge you for eating a brownie at nine in the morning? Fear no more! Everyone around you will think that you are having a nice coffee or hot chocolate. And if you put ice cream and chocolate sauce on top, it looks just like a gourmet hot chocolate. Perfect.
Since this recipe uses the microwave instead of the oven, it is completely kid friendly and is a great way to inspire your kids to start baking! So when you want a brownie, you can make your kids do it. This is a win win for everyone.

Brownie in a Mug Recipe:

Equipment you will need:
A microwavable mug
A microwave
measuring equipment
utensils
napkins (you might get a little messy with how delicious this is!)

Ingredients you will need:
4 tbsp all purpose flour
3 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
4 tbsp milk
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
1 tbsp chocolate chips (or your choice of mix in)
1 scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce (optional but highly recommended)

Instructions:
(more detailed instructions below)

To start off choose your favourite microwave safe mug and get out all of the ingredients you need. In your mug, mix in your flour, sugar, cocoa and baking soda. Mix until all the ingredients are nicely blended together. Next, add in your wet ingredients (milk, vegetable oil  and vanilla) and stir these in until you have a nice brownie batter consistency. Sprinkle on your chocolate chips or topping of your choice then mix into your batter.
The next step is to put your mug into the microwave. We put our brownie in the microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds and that was the perfect amount of time. Depending on your microwave, the baking time may change. To be safe, start with 1 minute and 30 seconds and then add on 10 more seconds as needed. To check if your brownie is ready, insert a toothpick into the brownie and if the toothpick comes out clean (without any batter on it) your brownie is ready!
Also be careful taking the mug out of the microwave as it is probably extremely hot.
Once your brownie has cooled down a little bit, add on a scoop of ice cream, some chocolate sauce or any other toppings you may like.

Bon appetit!

See, this could totally be a gourmet hot chocolate!

Why do kids cry? • interior thoughts

I am sitting here currently asking myself this question.
More specifically, how on Earth can kids cry day in day out and not become exhausted?
This is completely serious. I don't understand.
Maybe that is why kids sleep a lot better than adults?
Maybe that is why kids don't have so much stress inside of them?
Maybe it is because kids live in the moment and truly express their emotions.
Maybe that is why when kids are happy, they are truly happy?
Maybe that is the key to happiness.
Crying.
Nonetheless, I do not like to hear it.
So I must say others crying is not the key to my happiness.
So then maybe crying is not the key to happiness.
Oh well, I was close.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Do you gotta Momma?
Does your Momma feed ya good chow?
Do you love ya Momma?
Well show Momma ya love her with an amazing Mother's Day gift!

Okay so we all know Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday... or at least you know now! Mother's Day is a great time to show your Mom how much you appreciate everything she's done for you. The only problem is thinking up ideas on HOW to show your appreciation. Anyone can go to the store and buy a card and some little Mother's Day gimmick buuuuuut that takes no effort whatsoever. Your gift should come from the heart, not Walmart (hey that rhymed!). So, to make it a bit easier for you, I have thought up a couple sweet little Mother's Day gift that you can do! Some of these ideas are last minute, some will take longer and require some planning.

I hope that you find at least one idea that Momma will love. :)

1. Personalized Gift Pack
It is so easy to go and buy a gift pack for Mom, but let's be honest, how much is she actually going to use? So by personalizing the pack, you can ensure that she loves everything and it shows that you've put some thought into it! All you have to do is find some sort of container, grab some tissue paper, a bit of cellophane clear wrap, your little gifts, and you are all set! If you are having troubles thinking of what to fill the gift pack with, here are some ideas that Mom may love:

  • her favourite chocolate bar
  • body lotion
  • nail polish
  • planner/notebook
  • sleep mask
  • homemade book mark
  • mug
  • tea/coffee
  • gloves/hat
2. Homemade Jewelry
Let's throw it back to the good old camp days with the colourful string friendship bracelets that we all loved to create. Why should that stop now? Your Mom is a lifelong friend, and that definitely deserves a friendship bracelet. They are so easy to make and completely customizable! All you need to do is go to the dollar store or any craft store of your choice and purchase some of the string. There are tons of different designs you can do. You can take out a book on how to make different designs or look on the internet! If Mom isn't too into the string, you can also make beaded or metal bracelets. Once again, there are lots of tutorials online, just take a browse around and I can almost guarantee you will find one you like.

3. Homemade Coupons
Personally, this is a go to gift for me. First off, it is really easy to create. Second, it is a very thoughtful gift. Lastly, it costs nothing. That one is my favourite reason. All you got to do is either hand make the coupons or find a template online. On my computer, microsoft word comes with really nice coupon templates that are super easy to customize. You can even add in pictures! Here are a couple of ideas for your coupons:

  • Hug/Kiss Coupon
  • Wash the dishes Coupon
  • Take the dogs for a walk Coupon
  • Foot rub Coupon
  • Mani/Pedi Coupon
  • Don't talk to me Coupon
  • Make Dinner Coupon
  • Your Choice Coupon

 4. Birdhouse
Okay, I know what you are thinking, a birdhouse? What? Yes, a homemade birdhouse. I know it sounds complicated but trust me, Mom's love it. And it actually isn't that hard. Of course I had to get assistance from my Dad since I am not the handiest person around, but I promise, it isn't too difficult. All you need to do is 4 walls, a base, and the roof. This is as complicated as you make it out to be. You can have a flat roof, triangular roof, a peg, no peg, once again this is very customizable to your abilities! After you create the birdhouse, you can paint it however you like! And if you do not have the supplies or the trust in yourself to fully build a birdhouse, I know that you can buy pre-made small birdhouses from the dollar store that are completely plain. From there you can paint it and customize it to however you like.

My Homemade Birdhouse. See the birds love it!

And there you have it! I hope you found something you'd like to try! If you have any other Mother's Day Gift Ideas, leave a comment down below for myself and others to see. I'd love to see all your ideas.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's out there!

My Top 5 Mascaras

Mascara is an essential part to a makeup lovers routine. Mascara is that finishing touch that you feel wrong going without. Nowadays, there is an insane amount of mascaras on the market and there is so many different specifics to go along with it! Do you want volume? Maybe length? Curl? Can there just be a mascara that has it all???
Here is just a short lil list of my favourite mascaras I've come across in the last couple of years. Of course I can not say these are the best ones on the market because I do not have enough eyelashes to try every mascara (or a big enough wallet!) but these are the mascaras that have stood out a bit more and I would definitely repurchase. :)

1. Makeup For Ever- Smoky Extravagant Mascara
Retail price: $30 Canadian @ Sephora
Best Feature: Definition
Wow. That is a great word to describe this mascara. It has a wet formula which allows the mascara to coat every eyelash but leave no clumps behind. The brush works amazing to separate the lashes and give an even application. I can honestly say that after putting this mascara on, you won't even believe that they are still your eyelashes. As this mascara separates your lashes, the definition it leaves is out of this world. The only thing I must say is that if you are looking for more curl and thickening, this mascara does not offer as much as other mascaras do. However if you want definition and crazy length, this mascara is the one for you!

2. Benefit- They're Real Mascara
Retail Price: $31 Canadian @ Sephora
Best Feature: Volume
This mascara is a go to for me. Whenever I am at Sephora, I always find myself back at the Benefit counter, being pulled towards this product. The brush has long, stiff bristles, which separates the lashes very evenly and and gives a nice even application. Another plus to the brush is the rounded tip. The rounded tip of the brush makes get mascara into the corners of your eyes SO much easier and saves you a lot of time and makeup wipes. This mascara right off the bat gives great volume and thickness so a second coat is not always required. Yet if you want even more volume, the mascara is very build-able. This mascara also has great staying power, staying on your lashes and not under your eyes (no raccoons here!).

3. Bobbi Brown- Smokey Eye Mascara
Retail Price: $35 Canadian @ Sephora
Best Feature: Definition
Very similar to the Makeup For Ever Mascara, it gives great length and definition, once again coating all the lashes nice and evenly. It has a very nice hold and really exaggerates the length of the lashes, which for me, length and definition are the two features that makes me love a mascara. Overall, I find this mascara very similar to the Smoky Extravagant Mascara (Smokey Extravagant and Smoky Eye... The name just gives the similarity away!) which is probably why I love it so much!

4. Maybelline- The Falsies Mascara
Retail Price: $7 Canadian @ Walmart
Best Feature: Curl
This mascara is definitely one of the top in the drugstore world. Majority of Maybelline mascaras are good quality and work nice for the price, but this one is still the best one I have tried. It works just as the name suggests, right away it goes for the drama of falsies. As a quick mascara to put on and run out the door, it works great! It really perks up your lashes in the morning, which is nice while the rest of your body is NOT feeling perky. The only thing you have to watch out for with this mascara is that if you apply more coats, it can get very clumpy very quickly. This can easily be avoided however by just applying a little bit lighter and more carefully.

5. Maybelline- The Rocket Mascara
Retail Price: $7 Canadian @ Walmart
Best Feature: Build-able
Fun fact, when I first bought this mascara, I did not like it. Not one bit. I had bought it spur of the moment since it was brand new out and I hadn't heard anyone talk about it yet. About a month after buying it and using it, that is when all the beauty gurus got a hold of it and went crazy. They all loved it and it looked so great on them, yet when I used it, I found that it did literally nothing for me. That is when I finally figured out how to use it to my advantage. You gotta shimmy it. When you shimmy the brush back and forth, you get amazing looking lashes. It gives great length and separation to your lashes and leaves you no clumps. And because of how light this mascara can be, it is extremely build-able and can be worn naturally or more dramatic. Overall, this mascara is very versatile and can be used for many different looks depending on how you use it.

And there we go! That was my top 5 mascaras. I hope you enjoyed and maybe got some ideas on which mascara you want to try next! If you have any mascara recommendations, leave them down below for others and I to see! I am always open to trying new mascaras and would love some ideas. :)
